North and South Korea agree to improve relations, hotline resumes

North Korea and South Korea have agreed to reopen the hotline. North Korea shut down the hotline in June last year after a dispute with South Korea escalated.

According to the South Korean president's office, the hotline will be operational after the two leaders agreed to improve relations. According to the office, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in have exchanged views several times in April.

Relations between the two countries have reached a critical juncture after a meeting between North and South Korea failed. Then in June last year, North Korea decided to shut down the hotline service. The hotline service is a service through which the leaders of the two countries can communicate directly with each other.

North Korea’s official news agency KCNA reported that: “According to the agreement reached between senior leaders, the North and South have taken measures to reopen all North-South Korea lines from 10 a.m. on July 27.” In terms of restoring mutual trust and promoting reconciliation A big step forward," he added.
