The election will take place on May 13, 2022. Choose the most qualified candidate. On May 13, 2022, Nepalese local elections will be held in 6 metropolitan cities, 11 sub-metropolitan cities, 276 municipalities, and 460 rural municipalities. It will be the country's second local election since the new constitution was enacted.

In total, 79 parties have registered with the election commission to participate in the local elections in 2022. For the 2022 local level election in Nepal, there are a total of 1,77,33,723 elections in 2022. For the 2022 local level election in Nepal, there are a total of 1,77,33,723 voters.

Local Level Election Process

Elections will be held at the local level for 753 local levels and 6743 wards. A  Chairperson/Mayor and a Deputy Chairperson/Deputy Mayor are selected at the local level. Local levels are further subdivided into wards, each of which has one ward chairperson and 4 members, 2 of whom must be female and 1 of whom must be a Dalit.

Local Level Election Qualification for Voters

By the day of the election, all voters must be 18 years old. The eligible candidate list will be released by the election commission, and voters must register their names on the voter list.

Local Level Election Budget 2022

Nepal's government has set aside an 8.1 billion budget for local elections in 2022. The Election

Commission has already demanded Rs 8.95 billion to hold local elections. However, the Ministry cut the budget for some of the titles and opted to spend Rs 8.11 billion on the civic elections. Moreover, the Election Commission had demanded Rs 10 million for the electronic voting machines.

Local Level Election Qualification for Candidates

According to Part 17 of the Constitution, a person who meets the following criteria is qualified to

become a candidate for various elected offices of the local level: - citizen of Nepal, - completed the age of twenty-one years, - registered voters of concerned local level, - most not be disqualified by any Federal law.
